The University of Michigan-Dearborn (UM-Dearborn) is one of the three campuses of the University of Michigan system. UM-Dearborn is a comprehensive university offering high-quality undergraduate, graduate, professional, and continuing education to residents of southeastern Michigan, and currently enrolls just under 9,000 students. The University of Michigan-Dearborn has an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate within the Office of Institutional Research.
UM-D IR Research Associate Job Requirements:
Research, design and execute research projects and prepare data reports.
Assemble data and perform data manipulation and analysis to fulfill state and federal reporting requirements as well as internal and external request.
Respond to ad-hoc queries from administrators, faculty, other offices within the institution, and external organizations
Perform statistical computations using SPSS, Access and Excel.
Summary:
To perform statistical computations and computer set up tasks. Collect, analyze , and process data, including state and federal reporting; analyze and respond to requests for institutional information; design and conduct research projects; perform appropriate statistical computational; manage multiple tasks simultaneously; other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education
Bachelors degree or combination of relevant experience and education required.
Experience
Work requires 3-5 years of institutional research or research in a social science setting or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience with data analysis.
Skills:
The position requires initiative, ability to work effectively in a team environment, and effective communication skills.
A strong quantitative background with demonstrated ability to analyze data is essential.
Strong ability with Excel and Access required.
Knowledge of databases and SPSS desirable

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
