Summary
The position will provide individual and group counseling, consultation with faculty and staff, outreach and liaison services, crisis intervention, psychological assessment, and have an active involvement in all training programs and educational activities. Counseling and Psychological Services clinicians are strong generalists in the areas of solution-focused clinical work, group treatment, and outreach/education/community engagement work, all within a college student mental health setting.
Responsibilities

Provide psychological counseling services to the University Community, including screening and diagnostic assessment, individual, couples, and group therapy for diverse students with a wide range of presenting concerns.

Provide crisis intervention to campus groups and University at-large.

Complete suicide and homicide assessments for students in distress.

Maintain confidential client files and appropriate record-keeping, according to professional, ethical, and legal standards.

Design, implement and present psycho-educational programming on a broad range of psychological issues.

Coordinate CAPS campus outreach program

Serve as a resource/consultant to administration, faculty, and staff, aimed at bringing a psychological perspective to University concerns.

Provide interdepartmental and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Attend staff and professional development meetings.

Engage in continuing education to improve clinical skills.

Provide clinical supervision for trainees of appropriate fields as appropriate.

Provide psychological assessment and testing as appropriate.
Required Qualifications

Doctorate degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology

Possess full licensure or ability to obtain full licensure for independent practice in the State of Michigan as a LP. Individuals looking for post doc hours would be provided needed supervision to obtain licensure.

Demonstrated high degree of sensitivity, interest, understanding, ability, knowledge and experience working with students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Sensitivity, creativity and an understanding of developmental issues of both traditional and nontraditional college students.

Strong analytical and conflict resolution skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to give group presentations.

Strong organizational skills.

Demonstrated competency and expertise in working clinically with college student/young adult populations, including individual and group work.
