Overview:
The primary purpose of the position is to evaluate and ensure garments pass all phases of the development and fit process including timely communication to all applicable stakeholders. The position will review, evaluate and correct patterns ensuring consistent fits. The position will conduct fit sessions and make fit recommendations that meet customer and Carhartt expectations.

Responsibilities:
Develop specification packages through all phases of development through fit approval. Ensure clear communication of the desired outcome. This includes construction details, graded measurements, detail sketches, digital photos and the development of patterns.
Manage the evaluation process, including the measuring of samples, garment spec, construction evaluation and consumer laundering assessment.
Conduct fit sessions with cross functional teams ensuring the style fits, functions and meets the desired needs for style and end use.
Create technical sketches including construction details and other detailed sketches as required.
Measure, evaluate and analyze competitor garments.
Work closely with QA, Internal Pattern Dept. and Vendors to maintain consistency and accuracy of construction standards. This includes fit blocks, grading and tolerances for each assigned category throughout the development/fit approval process.
Partner with TD Mgr. / Director to manage direct reports & adhere to the PD time lines. Using the PD timeline & corporate strategic objectives as a guide.
Manage day to day activities for Technical Designer levels I and II. Conducts regular 1 x 1 meetings with direct reports, conducts progress reviews, annual appraisals & career pathing discussions
Key Performance Indicators:
Pattern Block development will reflect desired fit and functionality for assigned area.
Style specifications are detailed and accurate.
Calendar deadlines for development, fit approval and salesmen samples are met 100%.
Will ensure samples/styles have gone through all phases of the development process with proper follow up with internal cross functional team and with the external vendor base.
Development and growth of direct reports is properly managed and communicated.
Entry Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in apparel and/or textiles or related field and/or equivalent years of experience required.
10
years of relevant Technical Design work experience required.
Management / Leadership experience (prior experience managing 1 - 4 Technical Designers l, II and Assistant - TDs) required.
Highly skilled in patternmaking, draping and grading principles required.
Very experienced in sewing and construction standards for manufacturing.
Manage and lead fit sessions for varying products with cross functional teams.
Proficient in computer skills: excel, word, Illustrator and PDM or PDM like system.
Strong problem solving skills, time management and presentation skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the proven ability to communicate with all levels including management and retail partners.
Outstanding organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and attention to detail.
Ability to work in an ever changing high paced work environment.
Working Conditions:
Normal office environment; open cubicle/row setting. Extended periods of time sitting, standing, typing on computer are required.
Light lifting may be required up to 25 LBS.
Willing to work some weekends if necessary to meet deadlines.
Domestic and international travel required up to 20%.
