Overview:
The Training and Development Specialist I is a business partner supporting the growth of Carhartt University, leadership development and learning initiatives. Under the leadership of the Supervisor Training & Development Carhartt University, the Training & Development Specialist I conducts needs analysis of requests for Training & Development support. This position will draft proposals for the development of adult
learning initiatives. The Training & Development Specialist I presents and facilitates training initiatives in partnership with members of the Training & Development team. This position conducts research to identify best practices resources and materials that can be incorporated into learning solutions.
Representative
Responsibilities:
As a member of the Carhartt University team supports the creation, delivery and maintenance of the structure and curriculum of Carhartt University.
Facilitates training programs in the area of leadership development, team building, organizational development and other areas that are priorities for the company with support from the Training & development (T&D;) team.
Conducts analysis to diagnose the gaps in organizational and leadership effectiveness. Designs and develops programs to close identified gaps. Ensures the linkage of training and development programs to corporate goals and strategic direction.
Provides basic support regarding training and development processes including needs assessment, curriculum design, quality control, scheduling, program deliver and program evaluation.
Collaborates with the HR Operations Team to diagnose, design and implement training and development opportunities. Collaborates with HR staff/business partners to implement change and development initiatives.
Collaborates with organizational leadership to provide flexible training formats and schedules. Formats will include but are not limited to Instructor Led Training (ILT) and Computer Bases Training (CBT).
Provide support in the development and implementation of talent management programs, succession planning, performance management and change management.
Partners with the T&D; team to design new and revised training programs and resources. Projects may be completed independently or in collaboration with others.
Researches best practice materials and approaches for the development of learning programs. Researches new and innovative approaches to adult learning.
Organizes, develops, and writes training procedure manuals and facilitator guides and participant guides and course materials such as handouts and visual materials.
Creates and implements curriculum evaluations to identify and analyze customer needs. Solicits feedback from leaders throughout the company to identify and recommend new learning opportunities.
Schedules classes based on availability of classrooms and instructors.
Processes request for participation in the Educational Assistance program as well as requests for Educational reimbursements.
Key Performance Indicators:
The Supervisor Training and Development Carhartt University is kept informed regarding all projects.
Works collaboratively with the training specialists and leaders.
Training program designs meet 100% of the requirements specified by the requesting customer. Work follows the ADDIE model as outlined in the Carhartt University Training Standards and Guidelines.
Designs and conducts a Level I evaluation for all programs designed / delivered. Designs and conducts a Level II evaluation for programs that are 1 day or more in duration.
Builds effective working relationships with leaders in all Carhartt facilities.
Proactively identifies opportunities to create training and development programs that are needed to support the achievement of business goals.
Has the ability to continuously learn new training and development processes and techniques including the use of technology to enhance adult learning.
Entry Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development or equivalent required. Master's Degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology, Organizational Development, Instructional Design or equivalent is preferred.
2 plus years' experience including training design and delivery, and organizational development initiatives.
Experience as an internal practitioner / business partner providing Human Resources, Organizational Development or Training services and developing business relationships with internal customers.
Must be able to develop, design and deliver training programs.
Experience in the use of CBT software/ technology such as Captivate is preferred.
Proficient in the use of MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Working Conditions:
Normal office environment; cubicle/office setting. Extended periods of time sitting, standing, typing on a computer is required.
Light lifting may be required, up to 25 lbs.
Typical work hours 8 am to 5 pm or as determined by Manager Training & Development. Willing to work some weekends if necessary to meet project deadlines.
National travel required (up to 20%). Ability to travel internationally is preferred.
