Crash Dummy Lab Technician

Employee must keep up with daily schedule. Instrument test articles, run crash test controls, and data collection. Removing vehicle components and instrumentation once test has been complete. Assemble and removing components and instrumentation from crash dummies. Trouble shooting instrumentation/wiring for crash dummies (ATDs). Test Lab instrumentation including application, installation, and calibration and troubleshooting of transducers, accelerometers, load cells, potentiometers and other various types of electrical equipment.
Fixture set up and modifications, development of automated data processing scripts, running several trials and analyzing results. Results to comply with IIHS, ECE GTR 7, and EuroNCAP protocols for whiplash testing.
Support dummy positioning studies and full vehicle crash tests for safety sensor development as schedule permits.
Data analysis comparison of test results from known bad parts, new parts, and parts of unknown condition to demonstrate the successful pass/fail qualification criteria.
Complete documentation outlining the test procedures and process for proper set up and use of the test stand.
Required to follow all safety processes and procedures
Conduct test sample prep and installation/removal
Design, fabricate, track, locate and mount customized test fixtures as needed
Run standard tests and support test engineers for one-off testing in a lab environment
Run multiple test facilities
Responsible for new procedural information sent out as new programs are brought into the Lab
Responsible for maintaining specific Lab supplies
High School Diploma
Desired:
Associate degree in Automotive Technology and/or experience in a crash/safety test facility.
Electrical and mechanical knowledge
Experience with instrumentation used in safety testing, including TC's, Load Cells, Strain Gages, String Pots, Accelerometers, CMM equipment, etc.
Basic background in pressure transducer, Thermocouple soldering, accelerometer, strain gage, and ability to read schematics/wiring diagrams
Understanding how DMMs, O-Scopes, and other electronic testing devices are used.
Knowledge of A/C and D/C power
Computer software and data acquisition knowledge
Requires familiarity with basic software tools such as Excel and databases, and overall comfort using state of the art, precision measuring equipment while working in a laboratory setting.
Self-starter, highly motivated, strong team player with a positive attitude
Proficient in MS Excel and PC based systems
Vehicle, lab or bench instrumentation, and testing experience
Knowledge of vehicle systems and general fabrication experience
General machine shop and hand tool knowledge

Attendance
Overtime, regular days, off days: Monday - Friday. Day shift, 7:00am- 3:30pm, but shift assignment is subject to change, so candidate must be flexible with available work hours.
Regular attendance and punctuality are critical, 100%
Work hours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week, Monday-Friday. Regular attendance of scheduled hours is extremely important. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary. Must have flexibility of work days to cover weekend testing requirements.
Other Essential Functions
Must complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, health performance evaluation, PMHV exam, and background check.
Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers. Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to self or others. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner. Dependable personal transportation to work site is required.
