Job
Summary:
The sitter is an employee, trained to provide companionship and sitter services in the hospital setting. He/she functions under the direction, instruction and supervisor of the staff nurse at the hospital and the Clinical Coordinator/Manager.
Primary Job Duties:
By following the assignment from which has been completed by the Supervisor, the sitter provides the following:
Assists in maintaining a healthful, safe environment
Keeps the hospital client in constant eye contact during entire assigned shift
Assists the client with ambulating by providing stand by assistance
Follows universal precautions whenever giving any aspect of client care
Maintains confidentiality
Performs ONLY those functions specified for each individual client
Responds to the physical, emotional and developmental needs of the client.
Follows emergency procedures in the event of any incident, e.g., accident, injury, or significant changes in the clients' condition.
Reports any changes in client's mental or physical condition, as well as suspicion of ingesting questionable substances, or items brought to the room by visitors to the staff nurse.
Minimum Job
Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Skills & Abilities: Ability to read and write consistent with job requirements. Shows good judgment and tact in dealing with the sick. Practices good hygiene and is neat in personal appearance
