Summary

The Operations Supervisor shall be responsible for supervising and overseeing daily plant operations while on shift.
They will also be responsible for training, directing, and supervising plant personnel, administering and overseeing adherence to Plant Safety, Operation and Administrative Programs and procedures.

Major Responsibilities

  • Monitors the operation and performance of the facility at times while on shift.
  • Takes appropriate action when necessary to ensure compliance of safety, efficiency, environmental and administrative guidelines.
  • Maintains qualification for the position of Senior Shift Supervisor as defined in the Plant Qualification Program.
  • The key qualifications for this position include being able to operate the plant using the plant DCS system, gas turbine and steam turbine operating control systems, and continuous emissions monitoring systems.
  • Oversees the performance and supervises plant personnel performing required daily operations activities, including log and record keeping, equipment readings, inspections and testing.
  • Directs the activities of Plant Operators as necessary to support the overall plant operation.
  • Maintains plant operating records and logs.
  • Assists in scheduling daily maintenance action, plant configuration changes and varying power and steam generation levels.
  • Implements corrective actions within established guidelines.
  • Responsible for new hire and continuous training, qualification and level of knowledge standards for regularly assigned shift personnel.
  • Responsible for plant operation regarding regulatory, procedural, and Business Plant requirements.
    Inclusive of the Lock Out Tag Out program.
  • Performs other similar and related work as directed by the Plant Management.
  • Participates and supervises staff personnel's participation in the Plant Collateral Duties Program.
  • Interface with the Energy Resource Management team to assure proper unit bids into MISO

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 10
    years in operations at a gas turbine, combined cycle power plant
  • 5
    years of experience as a Shift Supervisor or Control Room Operator in a gas turbine, combined cycle power plant
  • Meets all requirements of the established qualification standard for the position

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possess the ability to read and understand moderately complex logic diagrams, plant piping and instrumentation diagrams, and equipment technical manuals.
  • Ability to use standard computer software programs such as spreadsheets, word processors, databases and other common programs.
  • Ability to obtain a City of Dearborn 1st Class Engineers License.
  • Capability of performing the duties of the Control Room and Plant Operator as required.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for supervising and overseeing daily plant operations at times while on shift.
  • Responsible for new hire training.
  • Responsible for directing, and supervising plant operating personnel.
  • Responsible for administering and overseeing adherence to Plant Safety, Operation and Administrative programs and procedures.
  • Responsible for administration of the Red Tag Lock Out/Tag out program.
  • Responsible for administration of the Pre-Job Brief/Job Hazards Analysis program
  • Will work with EHS Coordinator on NERC/FERC and safety compliance.
  • Will work with the Operations Superintendent completing daily operational spreadsheets, KPI reporting, weekly and monthly Operations reports and Operations department training.

Hours and Travel

  • Meet travel requirements of the position.
  • Work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime.

Physical Demands

  • Exerting up to 50 lbs.
    of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs.
    of force frequently, and up to 10 lbs.
    of force constantly to move objects.
  • Subject to both inside and outside environments.
  • Subject to extreme cold and hot temperatures.
  • Temperatures below freezing and above 100 degrees for periods of more than an hour while on shift.
  • Subject to hazards such as proximity to moving parts, chemicals, high hear, and electricity.
  • Subject to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, dust odors, gases or poor ventilation.
  • Also subject to oils and other lubricants.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment such as full-face respirators, SCBA, googles, safety glasses, etc.
  • Be able to adjust to ever changing conditions, high-pressure situations, changing priorities and job functions.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
